The study of manual illustration methods in the second generation of Iranian graphic posters (case example: the works of Farshid Moghali and Qabadshiva)
Illustration techniques in graphic design posters are an important and fascinating topic in art and design. These techniques include the use of graphic elements, color, font type, alignment, hand-drawn painting, and pen design to convey effective and attractive messages in graphic posters. Illustration techniques involve the use of symbols that visually convey a concept or message to the audience. Additionally, the use of Iranian mapping and patterns allows the creation of posters with a local and cultural theme. Other illustration techniques in graphic poster design include alignment, determining the distance between text and images, and combining them in the design. Finally, the use of illustration techniques in graphic poster design is crucial for attracting more audience attention and presenting effective and meaningful messages.Research objectives: The main objective of this research is to extract the characteristics of working with hands and evaluate the process of creating tangible graphic works. The main research questions include: What hand-drawing techniques and methods has Ghobad Shiva used in his posters? What hand-drawing techniques and methods has Farshid Mesghali used in his posters?Research method: This applied research is based on three general methods of descriptive, analytical, research method, and ways of obtaining information, data collection tools, and analysis methods. Seven examples of Farshid Mesghali›s posters and seven examples of Ghobad Shiva›s posters have been studied in this research. Conclusion: A graphic designer is needed when dealing with an image that is intended to be used in a poster. Instead of approaching the image from a painterly perspective, it should be treated as a graphic design. This means designing the image in a way that aligns with the poster›s goals and following principles and rules. Since illustration clarifies, highlights, and explains text, it can be a suitable technique for designing a poster. The illustrator should approach the image as a graphic design, not a painting, and have an idea to make it attractive in line with the poster›s objectives, following principles and rules. Keywords: illustration, creative poster, graphic design, handmade posters.like other fields of graphic design, has been strongly influenced by the growth of technology, especially digital technology. This has caused graphic works, especially poster design, to be produced in less time and with more volume, but with all the advantages of digital technology, it seems that there is a real and human impact in poster and graphic design works. It has faded. Farshid Moghali and Qabad Shiva lived at the height of the prosperity of the Polish school, which was based on illustration.Community Verified iconhas caused them to be influenced by the Polish school, and even some artists like Morteza Mamiz, Zarin Kalk and Farshid Moghali migrated to Eastern Europe for illustration courses and completed specialized courses. They were from the Polish school, and strong design was one of the main reasons for the powerful illustrations of these two artists (Farshid Moghadi and Qabad Shiva), and this itself is a factor that goes back to the illustration and the strong hand and creative mind of these artists. The questions that we want to answer in this article are: What methods and techniques of manual illustration did Qabad Shiva use in his posters? - What methods and techniques of manual illustration has Farshid Moghali used in his posters?Based on the questions raised at a time when most of the production stages of graphic works are done by using computer software, with this description, the upcoming research has sought to show the characteristics of handwork, so that maybe it can attract the attention of designers. To attract young people to the issue that the digital method is not the only method of creating graphic works and should not be subjected to it, but software is also a tool such as pencil, paper, pen and so on.The current research was conducted based on three general descriptive, analytical and experimental methods, and the community studied in this research is the handmade posters of Farshid Moghali and Qabad Shiva. The sampling method in this research was descriptive-analytical and in this research the collected data were qualitatively analyzed (4 posters of Ghobad Shiva's works and 4 posters of Farshid Moghali's works). After examining various issues, the design stage of the initial studies began and according to the language of cumulative communication in manual posters, ready-made forms and concepts were used for design. In order to communicate deeply with the audience, the poster must convey its concept, mood, atmosphere, attribute, feeling and everything well. Therefore, starting from the abstract elements that make up the concepts, we reached the layers on the poster and related the texture, color and execution technique, subject, images, ideas, etc. to the previous basics.Community Verified icon
